Laurent was such a joy! He was very knowledgeable and handled our group of 10 women and one man effortlessly. We tasted fish at the market, he gave us each a lucky shell that he purchased from a vendor, we explored a spice and incense store, got some delicious pastries, tried out some authentic Algerian bread, learned about some interesting history of Marseille, and enjoyed a lovely patio picnic right in the back of his quaint French home. I highly recommend this tour and would do it again in an instant!

Fantastic tour. Would thoroughly recommended to anyone interested in local food and culture. Laurent was a great guide and so hospitable allowing us into his home. Also big thanks to Anita and Kathy who also joined us and made us feel like friends not clients. Big thanks again for a wonderful look around Marseille.

My parents and I went on a cruise all throughout Europe, and Marseille was by far one of our favorite stops thanks to Laurent! He was full of so much knowledge and brought us into areas of the city that we would have never discovered without him. We got to taste not just French cuisine, but got an authentic experience by trying foods from all the different cultures that make up Marseille. He was such a pleasure to tour the city with! If you want to feel like a local rather than a tourist, this is for you!

Laurent picked us up at the port in Marseilles and took us to Sanary-Sur-Mer to experience the market. He helped us with the language (I only speak very little French) and which items were best. We wound up with some olives, sausage, cheese, fruit, and baguettes. From Sanary, we went to a local winery for a short tour and they were kind enough to let us use their wine cellar for our picnic instead of sitting outside in the record-setting heat. Laurent picked up on the fact that one of the people on our tour was taking photos and took us to a few very photogenic spots – Le Castellet (Medieval Town) and a Natural Park. We ended the tour with a stop in Cassis. Overall a very good day, despite the heat.
We had an amazing time with Sam! He’s thoughtful and funny and knows a lot about the region. We focused on small villages and had plenty of time in each. The highlight for me was seeing Lacoste after being a student there 30 years ago- a total treat to finally make it back. The market in Apt was also good. It felt like a mix of stuff for locals as well as tourists. With Sam’s help we were able to find some real treats from the region.
I requested a private family tour so that we could practice our rusty french and Sam was more than accommodating. He spoke to us slowly and clearly and was not bothered by having to switch back into english when we were stumped. It was like an intensive french course and we had a blast! If trying out your french is not your thing, just do the trip in english. It’ll be fantastic either way.
I loved this tour! Luckily there were still a lot of shops open as our tour was on Christmas Day. Laurent was very knowledgeable about the history of Marseille. He took us a lot of the middle eastern spots in marseille so i was able to try food i would otherwise never get. The food was great and so was the wine. What a nice way to explore a new city.
We did not feel like following somebody but a nice guy who shows us a great town with great food instead 🙂
We can highly recommend this tour, if you look for an uncomplicated, personal touch, definetily would do it again!
Thanks again Laurent, have a great time in Marseille!
