France is the country of wine par excellence. Words such as Champagne, Bordeaux and Cabernet Sauvignon bring to mind the renowned expertise applied to the world of wine. The Provence region is no exception and plays a great part in this proud heritage. It's the oldest wine growing region going back to the arrival of the Greeks 2600 years ago and boasts a variety of terroirs, fragrances and landscapes.

The appellation Côtes de Provence, is the most well-known of Provencal Wines.
Next are the appellations of Côteaux d'Aix, Côteaux Varois and Bandol follwed by the smallest appellations, Les Baux de Provence and Cassis.

The northern part of Provence holds the most prestigeous wines found in the southern part of the Côtes-du-Rhone region. These hearty, tannic reds are bursting with character, the most famous being Châteauneuf du Pape. However, one mustn't overlook its strong neighbors, Tavel, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaumes de Venise and Séguret.

With Provence Amazing Tours you'll explore the wine growing regions of Provence and the southern region of Côtes-du-Rhône.
We'll take you to some wineries off the beaten track where you'll hear the winemakers passionate stories about the job they love, the transformation of grape to wine, while you taste their goods in cool cellars.
